The secret to beauty isn’t something that’s locked away inside a pack of expensive chemical products. On the contrary, everything you need to achieve your beautiful and radiant complexion goals lie within a few key natural habits that you should be forming.

Little things you do every day can do a lot to give your skin all the fuel it needs to recharge, repair, and withstand life’s daily stresses. Here are a few habits you should be looking to develop to achieve success in your quest for natural beauty.

Sleep – Your body and skin will always thank you for every little bit of rest it gets. Sleep on a set schedule for at least 8 hours a day for the best results. People who are sleep-deprived have to deal with puffy, blood-shot eyes, dark under-eye circles, more wrinkles, and droopier eyelids compared to people who are well-rested.

Exercise – You’d be amazed by the wondrous effect of exercise on your health and beauty. A study conducted in 2014 showed that people over 40 who exercise regularly have the skin of people half their age! It’s not even as if you have to run 10 miles a day or do 4 hours of yoga regularly. People who just jog or cycle an hour a week see benefits as well. The key to exercising is to figure out a routine and just stick to it. Remember, starting is always the hardest part.

Sunscreen is your best friend – You absolutely need to have sunscreen on when going outside. However, don’t think just sunscreen will cut it. The sun’s burning and cancer-causing UVB rays can have an intense effect on your screen. Wear light clothing but do cover your skin so direct sunlight never reaches. If you’re going outside, make sure to stick to areas with shade.

Stay hydrated – Ideally you want to be drinking at least 8 glasses of water every day to keep your body hydrated. When your body is properly hydrated, your skin can hold on to water you ingest, keeping it healthy and giving you that fresh look. The moment you stop drinking enough water, your water goes to your other organs instead, and your skin doesn’t get the moisture it needs.

Be positive – Stress and anxiety can cause your cortisol levels to go up, causing dry skin and wrinkles to become a common problem. If you’re wondering why you always have dry skin and wrinkles just never seem to stop popping up – it’s probably because you are putting too much needless pressure on yourself. Treat yourself better and relax. Meditation, massages or mani-pedis are quick ways to release all that stress.

Exfoliate everyday – Skin cells go through a constant cycle, but depending on how old you are, and the environment you’re in, they might be taking longer and longer to drop off. So, remember to exfoliate! It does wonders for your skin and is one of the easiest ways to achieve brighter and healthier looking skin.
